Editorial standards
These are the rules behind every number on Hunchmeter. They apply to every expert and every outlet in the same way.
What we record
- Picks published on a public page by a named expert or a named panel. Nothing from private groups, paid newsletters or deleted posts.
- The pick as the outlet published it. If a pick changes after we recorded it before kick-off, the version we saw before kick-off counts, and the change is noted.
- Every pick carries a label that says how we got it: recorded before kick-off, time-stamped before kick-off by the platform, or restored from the outlet's page after the game.
How we grade
- Final scores, including overtime, from ESPN's public scoreboard.
- Spread picks at the line the expert's own outlet printed.
- Every record shows its sample size. Rankings start at 30 decided picks.
- The details are on the methodology page.
Independence
- We are not affiliated with the NFL, any team, or any outlet we track.
- We don't take money from sportsbooks, experts or outlets. There are no affiliate links and no paid placements on this site.
- We don't make or sell picks.
How we write about people
- We report records, not judgments. We don't put labels on people.
- A short record is shown as short: small samples carry their size and a 95% range.
Errors and requests
- Anyone can report an error at editors@hunchmeter.com. A confirmed error is fixed and listed on the corrections page with the date.
- Experts and outlets can ask us to review how their picks are recorded. We answer every such request.
- Requests to remove a page are reviewed by a person against the public interest in an accurate record.
